Stephanie Carter Larson - Board of Directors

Stephanie Carter Larson, Ph.D.,is a choreographer, teacher and contact improvisation/partnering specialist.  She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Dance for the University of Florida and New College of Florida, Artist in Residence for UF/MOD, and is the former Director of Dance at Booker High School’s Visual and Performing Arts Center in Sarasota, Florida.  She is proud to have influenced many of the members of this company and is impressed by their maturity and growth. Dr. Carter has studied with many renowned teachers such as David Dorfman, Mark Haim, Lois Henry, Gerri Houlihan, Ralph Lemon, Bebe Miller, Daniel Nagrin, and Liz Lerman.  She has also studied contact improvisation with Chris Aiken, David Beadle, Daniel Lepkoff and Nancy Stark Smith.  She teaches release-based technique as well as partnering, critical analysis, contact improvisation, kinesiology, modern dance history, and composition.

Melissa Lodhi - Board of Directors

Melissa Lodhi  graduated with honors from Butler University with a Bachelors’s degree in Performing Arts with a concentration in Dance and holds a Master’s degree from Full Sail University in Education Media Design and Technology.  She has performed with Delia Stewart Dance Company, SPROUT, Cincinnati Metropolitan Dance Company and Butler Ballet.  She has also performed in project-based works with Moving Ethos Dance Company and Fuzión Dance Artists.  She studied dance at Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago on full scholarship.  She was also the recipient of a Bates Teacher Fellowship Award.  Teaching experience includes; Houston Metropolitan Dance Center, Kashmere High School in Houston, Dancespace in Bradenton, Deborah Vinton School of Ballet in Sarasota, the Sarasota Ballet International Summer Program and The National and Regional High School Dance Festivals.  Her choreographic works have been performed at Booker High School and by Fuzión Dance Artists.  Ms. Lodhi is currently the Department Chairperson for the Booker High School Dance Department and is a member of the Districts Arts Leadership Team.  She also serves on the board of directors for Moving Ethos Dance Company.  She served on the state writing committee for the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Dance and was Booker High School’s 2011-2012 teacher of the year.

Lori Verier - Board of Directors

Lori Verier has participated in the dance world as a student, performer and audience member. Back in the day, Lori attended master classes with Alvin Alley, Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, Daniel Nagrin and other great legendary choreographers. A graduate of Grand Valley State Colleges in 1977 with a Bachelor of Philosophy and a double major in dance and education, as well as a minor in psychology, Lori’s commitment to dance continues as a board member for the Moving Ethos Dance Company. In 1979 Lori earned a Masters Degree in Education with a minor in administration leadership. With a strong belief in public education, Lori has served as an educator for thirty-five years. Currently in the capacity of Professional Development Specialist for the School board of Sarasota County, Lori is recognized for her leadership role with teachers and administrators through program development, training, curriculum and instruction, coaching, mentoring, teambuilding, mediation and facilitation; maintaining a focus on the welfare of students and the support for the educators who serve with dedication. In 2002 Lori became a Registered Bach Flower Practitioner. In her current private practice she supports people in preserving emotional balance; in order to enrich their own lives and the greater community they live in. Lori has always maintained that the arts are not only the spice of life but the soul of life. In her work as a board member for ME, Lori is inspired by young professionals whose talent, choreography, relevance and mission serve and inspire the local community as well as other states.


Julie Felts - Board of Directors

Julie Felts is a National Board-Certified teacher and mentor. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Florida and completed her Gifted endorsement in Sarasota. Ms. Felts taught Advanced Placement Art at Pine View School, Buchholz High School (Gainesville), and now Booker High School Visual and Performing Arts Center where she serves as chair of the V.P.A. Art department. She also has written Visual Art curriculum for both Sarasota and Alachua Counties. She served on the Board of Directors Avante-Garde Special Events Committee for the Harn Museum of Art and was also a Board Member for the University of Florida Gallery Guild. Ms. Felts has served as a judge for the Central Ohio Regional Scholastic Art Awards. She is active in grant writing and enjoys painting and photography.
